Pre-Budget Consultations 2021-2022: First Meeting with SME Representatives

Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Renganaden Padayachy, has taken note of various proposals from the various players in the SME sector in anticipation of the 2021-2022. budget.

Proposals made by representatives include: extension of Wage Assistance Scheme and loan repayment moratorium to help SMEs overcome the economic crisis in the wake of COVID-19; an additional tax on imported products to encourage the public to buy locally manufactured products such as leather and its derivatives; and assistance in the face of the difficulties entrepreneurs face in receiving subsidies from Development Bank of Mauritius Ltd.
