A High-Level Event on Culture and Sustainable Development was held on 21 May 2021 to allow Member States to share views and actions on crisis-response measures to support the creative economy during the pandemic.
The Republic of Mauritius was represented by the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck.
During his intervention on United Nations web TV, Minister Teeluck listed out the various measures implemented in favour of the cultural and heritage sectors such as, the Self Employment Assistance Scheme to provide financial support to artists during two lockdown periods, the Post COVID-19 Action Plan 2020 for the creative and heritage sectors and the Artist Support Plan 2021 to assist artists who are suffering loss of revenue as a consequence of restrictions imposed on related activities.
