Pre-Budget consultations: Finance Minister discusses with stakeholders of IT Sector
– Representatives of the Mauritius Information and Technology Industry Association (MITIA) and the Outsourcing and Telecommunications Association of Mauritius (OTAM), exchanged views and made proposals as regards the ICT sector to the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Dr Renganaden Padayachy, during a pre-Budget consultative meeting, today, in Port Louis.
– The proposals focused on adding value to services intended for the Government, the public and businesses in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
– Seven representatives from OTAM AND MITIA participated in the meeting, namely: the Chairperson of OTAM, Mr R.Seetohul, the First Vice President, Mrs J.Chan, the Treasurer, Mr J.P. d’Unienville, an Executive member, Mr D.Hurkoo, the President of MITIA, Mr K. Mohee, the Treasurer, Mr C. Constance and, the Assistant Treasurer, Mr V.Bourelly.
– Several proposals were on the agenda, namely: the leverage of assets in an effort to adopt a formula to attract skills and ensure sustained and significant growth; the setting up of a real action plan to gain competitiveness; Mauritius to remain visible on the global market and be a platform of excellence; as well as position the country as a regional leader.
-The increased access to training leading to qualifications and enhancing the value of trade and the promotion of e-learning and work from home schemes were also proposed.
