Mauritius has received 38 400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine through COVAX Facility.

Vaccines arrived last night on a flight of Air Mauritius from Paris and will be used for the national vaccination campaign in the fight against the COVID-19. pandemic.

Vaccines were received at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Minister of Road Transport and Light Metro, Mr. Alan Ganoo, and Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Kailesh Jagutpal.

The British High Commissioner, Mr. Keith Allan; Head of Delegation of the European Union, Mr. Vincent Degert; United Nations Resident Coordinator Christine Umutoni; Chargé d ‘ affaires a. i from the U.S. Embassy, Ms. Jude DeBaere; and World Health Organization representative Dr. Laurent Musango were also present at the airport.
